Andreas Munzer Bodybuilder
Andreas Munzer Tribute Page
Andreas Munzer PictureAndreas Münzer was born on October 25, 1964 and he died while competing at a bodybuilding competition in March 14, 1996. He had climbed his way up to be one of the top ten professional bodybuilders in the world. His is unfortunately accused of taking too many drugs but his life was more than just drugs.
Andrea Munzer was a naturally gifted bodybuilder who made a few bad decisions in his life, which ended it suddenly by causing multiple organ failure. However this man just like many aspiring bodybuilders were in complete awe and fascination with what Arnold the Austrian Oak has achieved because of bodybuilding.
Andreas was from Austria as well and Arnold was his hero all his life which got him started at bodybuilding at an early age. Andreas was able to put on a large amount of muscle from years of hard and intense workouts and some good nutrition over the years as well.
However Andrea wanted to take it all another step farther and was so determined to present a finally chiseled physique that he started taking too much potassium and too many diuretics to hide the steroids and get rid of the water he had in his body before a competition.
While he was busy competing at a show in 1996 and after taking too many potassium-sparing diuretics he was rushed to hospital. As competitive bodybuilders we can all learn from this man’s experience and should take a bit of time to see exactly what caused his death.
To make a brief summary of what the doctors discovered in his body which the autopsy said the cause of death was dystrophic multiple-organ-failure. This included in the report a few interesting points that this man’s extremely muscular physique, with an almost complete absence of subcutaneous fat affected his liver showing numerous table-tennis-ball-sized tumors. Also half the liver consisted simply of a crumbly mass.
It is interesting to note that Münzer's heart weighed 636g whereas a normal man's heart usually weighs 300–350g. He also had extremely small testes and his electrolytes were also completely out of balance with extremely high potassium levels. Traces of about twenty different drugs were found, along with acute toxicity (perhaps caused by a stimulant).
Andreas Munzer Workout
His workouts were intense and whether he was taking drugs or not is irrelevant when you consider the intensity with which he used to train. From doing forced reps, negatives and always training past the point of failure using free weights and machines many people simple called him mad.
An example of his leg workout is:
Squats for 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps
Leg extensions for 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps
Lunges for 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps
Lying leg curls for 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps
Seated leg curls for 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps
Standing one-leg curls for 4 sets of 8 to 12 repsHe would use peak contraction, forced reps and negatives to work beyond failure.
